Following the successful launch of the African Youth Crime Prevention Platform (AYCPP), the United Nations African Institute for the Prevention of Crime and the Treatment of Offenders (UNAFRI) will host the second edition of its weekly X Spaces conversation series on Friday, 19 June 2026.
The session, themed “Xenophobia in Africa: Hate, Fear and the Future of Regional Unity”, will bring together voices from youth leadership, law, psychology, and academia to examine how xenophobia continues to shape social cohesion, mobility, and integration across Africa.
As Africa becomes increasingly interconnected through migration, trade, education, and technology, the persistence of fear, misinformation, and exclusion continues to challenge the ideals of Pan-African unity. This dialogue will unpack the drivers of xenophobia, its impact on communities, and practical pathways toward inclusion, dignity, and coexistence.
Hosted under the AYCPP, the discussion will also spotlight the role of young people in reshaping narratives and advancing peaceful, informed engagement across communities.

The African Youth Crime Prevention Platform is a weekly digital engagement initiative established by UNAFRI to amplify youth voices on issues relating to crime prevention and the treatment of offenders.
