On May 08, 2026, UNAFRI, led by its Acting Director General, Mr. Munanura Andrew Karokora, paid a courtesy visit to the Office of the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Kampala.
The delegation was received by Mr. Leonard Zulu, United Nations Resident Coordinator in Uganda, who welcomed the UNAFRI team and commended the institution’s continued commitment to advancing crime prevention, justice, and offender rehabilitation across Africa.

During the meeting, discussions focused on strengthening collaboration between UNAFRI and the wider United Nations Country Team in Uganda. Mr. Leonard Zulu invited UNAFRI to actively participate in broader UN discussions on strategic issues of national and regional importance, including the Sovereignty Bill, illicit financial flows, and fraud prevention.
The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment between UNAFRI and the United Nations system to foster stronger institutional partnerships and coordinated responses to emerging governance, crime prevention, and rule of law challenges.

UNAFRI looks forward to continued engagement with the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator and other UN agencies in pursuit of its mandate to support African countries in crime prevention and criminal justice reform.
