UNAFRI Participates in the 35th Session of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice in Vienna

UNAFRI is participating in the 35th Session of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ35) taking place in Vienna, Austria, from 1st to 5th June 2026.

Representing the Institute is Acting Director General Mr. Andrew Karokora Munanura, who has joined Uganda's delegation alongside representatives from key justice sector institutions and law enforcement agencies.

The Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ) is the United Nations' principal policymaking body in the field of crime prevention and criminal justice. The annual session provides a platform for Member States and stakeholders to discuss emerging crime trends, share experiences and strengthen international cooperation in addressing crime and justice challenges.

Uganda's participation at CCPCJ35 underscores the country's commitment to advancing effective crime prevention and criminal justice policies. The session also offers an opportunity for delegates to engage in discussions on issues such as transnational organized crime, cybercrime, corruption, access to justice and international cooperation.

As a United Nations institute dedicated to supporting crime prevention and criminal justice efforts across Africa, UNAFRI continues to contribute to regional and global dialogue aimed at strengthening justice systems and promoting safer societies.

Throughout the session, UNAFRI is engaging with partners and stakeholders to advance knowledge sharing, foster collaboration and support innovative approaches to crime prevention and criminal justice on the African continent.
