ree

On November 6, 2025, the Director-General of UNAFRI participated in the 2025 Autumn Coordination Meeting of the United Nations Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Programme Network of Institutes (PNI), held at the ISPAC Secretariat in Milan, Italy. The session was chaired by John Brandolino, Director of the Division for Treaty Affairs at UNODC, and gathered several heads of PNI institutions from around the world.

During the meeting, Mr Brandolino provided a briefing on a range of current UNODC matters, including new initiatives, funding, ongoing projects, and reaffirmed the organisation's steadfast commitment to supporting PNI efforts in advancing the global crime prevention agenda. The meeting reviewed the progress achieved by various institutes, recognising that this was a pivotal moment as the Kyoto Declaration on Advancing Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice was drawing to a close.

In addition, the meeting featured detailed updates from multiple PNI members regarding their activities and preparations for the forthcoming 2026 Crime Congress in Abu Dhabi. Discussions focused on lessons learned, challenges encountered, and collaborative strategies to further enhance international cooperation in crime prevention.
