UNAFRI AND ICC EXPLORE NEW AVENUES FOR COOPERATION

The United Nations African Institute for the Prevention of Crime and the Treatment of Offenders (UNAFRI) held a high-level meeting with the leadership of the International Criminal Court (ICC) on October 21, 2025.
The ICC delegation was led by Her Excellency Ms. Tomoko Akane, President of the ICC, accompanied by Her Excellency Reine Alapini-Gansou, Vice President of the ICC, and other senior officials.
Discussions centered on strengthening collaboration between the two institutions, with a particular focus on enhancing information sharing, cooperation, and strategic partnerships. President Akane expressed her strong interest in deepening collaboration with UNAFRI to expand the ICC’s engagement and impact across the African continent.
This meeting marked a positive step toward strengthening the partnership between UNAFRI and the ICC, with a shared commitment to advancing justice, capacity building, and effective collaboration across Africa.
