The United Nations African Institute for the Prevention of Crime and the Treatment of Offenders (UNAFRI) was honoured to receive Ambassador Charles Ssentogo, Chief of Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uganda, for a courtesy visit as preparations intensify for the Institute’s relaunch on 25 November 2026.

Ambassador Ssentogo was welcomed by Mr Munanura Andrew Karokora, Acting Director General of UNAFRI. The engagement provided an opportunity to discuss coordination and preparations for this important institutional milestone.

The forthcoming relaunch represents a significant step in UNAFRI’s renewed commitment to serving African Member States. It will provide a platform for strengthening partnerships and advancing cooperation in crime prevention, criminal justice and the treatment of offenders across the continent.

As preparations continue, UNAFRI remains committed to building a stronger institution capable of responding effectively to Africa’s evolving crime prevention and criminal justice priorities.

A renewed vision. A stronger institution. A safer Africa.
