Anglophone Conference C2-UNAFRI 2026

Trafficking in Persons for the Purpose of Organ Removal: Current Situation, Challenges and Prospects (Anglophone Session)

The United Nations African Institute for the Prevention of Crime and the Treatment of Offenders (UNAFRI) will host an Anglophone virtual conference addressing the growing concern of trafficking in persons for the purpose of organ removal and trafficking in human organs.

This conference is convened in response to United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime request for contributions pursuant to United Nations General Assembly Resolution 79/189 on strengthening international cooperation to prevent and combat these crimes.

The session will bring together experts, policymakers, and practitioners from Eastern and Southern Africa to examine:

  • The current situation and emerging trends

  • Key challenges in prevention, detection, and prosecution

  • Opportunities for strengthened regional and international cooperation
